With a generous 90 mm drop, the GC Series is the deep-profile option in Decovision's LED coving range — cornice moulding with real presence for rooms that can carry it. Like all our coving it is cut from XPS (extruded polystyrene): a rigid, closed-cell foam with a smooth face that paints beautifully, at around a tenth of the weight of plaster. Made in the UK by Decovision.

Indirect lighting, hidden hardware

The GC profile conceals an LED channel along its upper edge. Run a strip inside it and the ceiling above glows with soft, even light while the strip itself stays completely hidden. It is the simplest route to the "floating ceiling" look — no plasterboard box-work, no electrician-built pelmet. LED strip not included, so you can match the colour temperature to the room.

Why weight matters

A deep plaster cornice of this size is a two-person lift and a genuine load on old lath ceilings. The GC in XPS (extruded polystyrene) is light enough to position one-handed, puts effectively no weight on the structure, and flexes with seasonal building movement instead of cracking along the joint line.

Sizes and packs

  • Three profile widths: GC-A (90 x 155 mm), GC-B (90 x 190 mm), GC-C (90 x 290 mm)
  • 2 m lengths, sold in packs from a single 2 m length to 30 m (16 lengths)
  • Matching internal and external corners ready-made (20 cm)
  • 20 cm sample available — ideal for testing profile scale, surface and paint before ordering a full room; samples are not for installation

Fitting notes

Use a solvent-free adhesive only and finish with water-based paint — solvent products damage polystyrene. No mechanical fixings are required. Most rooms are done in an afternoon: measure, cut with a fine saw, bond, fill the joints, paint.

Best rooms for a deep profile

High-ceilinged living rooms, dining rooms and master bedrooms take the GC naturally. Because XPS (extruded polystyrene) is closed-cell and moisture-resistant, it is equally at home above kitchen units or in a bathroom.

Why Decovision

Genuine XPS (extruded polystyrene) rather than soft bead foam, factory-made corners that save the hardest cuts, UK production, and an inexpensive sample so you can see the profile on your own ceiling line first. Start with a sample — the full packs will still be here tomorrow.

The completeness check carried out before installation is essential for a trouble-free application. These are the same instructions included in print with every package.

1. Package opening and inspection

  • Open the package from both ends.
  • The products are numbered. The numbers do not indicate an installation sequence - they are only provided to help you verify the package contents.
  • Whatever quantity of lengths you purchased, check the numbers inside the package to confirm it is complete.

Protective pieces: the small foam pieces and fillers inside the package are not part of the product. They are for protection in transit only, are not used during installation and can be discarded.

2. Corner pieces inspection

If your order includes internal or external corners, they may be inside the same package - or, if they did not fit the length, they may have been sent as a separate parcel. Please check the main package and any additional package.

Important: if any product is missing or damaged, contact us before starting installation.

3. Corner installation options

Option 1: corners can be cut by the user at a 45-degree angle using a mitre box.

Option 2 (recommended): pre-made corners purchased from us consist of two pieces already cut at 45 degrees. Install the corners first, followed by the intermediate sections - this gives a faster and cleaner result.

4. Required materials

  • Solvent-free coving adhesive
  • Utility knife or fine-toothed saw
  • Acrylic sealant or joint filler
  • Caulking gun
  • Tape measure and pencil

5. Installation

  • The wall and ceiling surface must be clean and dry.
  • Apply the adhesive to the contact surfaces of the coving.
  • Press the product firmly into place.
  • Wipe away excess adhesive with a damp cloth.

6. Finishing and painting

  • Fill the joints with sealant.
  • Once dry, lightly sand if necessary.
  • Paint with two coats of water-based paint. Never use solvent-based paints or adhesives on polystyrene.

7. Usage information

  • Lightweight - can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
  • Decorative trim: it does not bear loads, so never hang anything from it.

If you have any questions before starting the installation, please contact us. We are pleased to help with any issues that may arise during installation.
