The SL Series is modern coving for ceilings reduced to clean, straight lines — three minimalist LED profiles in XPS (extruded polystyrene), made in the UK by Decovision. If cherubs and scrollwork are not your thing, this is the series to start with. XPS (extruded polystyrene) is a rigid closed-cell foam: smooth enough to paint like plaster, light enough to fit single-handed.

Sharp lines, soft light

Each SL profile hides an LED channel behind its top edge. The result is a crisp shadow-gap look by day and a floating band of indirect light by night — the detail you see in high-end hotel rooms, achievable in a weekend. LED strip not included, so you control brightness and colour temperature.

One-person installation, zero ceiling load

Because XPS (extruded polystyrene) weighs a fraction of plaster, an entire room's coving can be carried under one arm and fitted by one person with adhesive alone. Older properties benefit most: no stress on tired ceilings, and no cracking as the house breathes through the seasons.

Fitting

Solvent-free adhesive is essential, as solvent-based products dissolve polystyrene; paint must be water-based for the same reason. No drilling, no screws. A straightforward room takes an afternoon.

Where the SL look fits

Open-plan living spaces, new-build bedrooms, home offices and media rooms — anywhere a plain junction between wall and ceiling feels unfinished. Moisture resistance from the closed-cell structure makes kitchens and bathrooms safe choices as well.

Why Decovision

True XPS (extruded polystyrene) rather than bead foam, minimalist profiles you will not find in the sheds, UK manufacture, ready-made corners and a low-cost sample service. Try the sample first — it is the cheapest way to be certain.

The completeness check carried out before installation is essential for a trouble-free application. These are the same instructions included in print with every package.

1. Package opening and inspection

Open the package from both ends.
The products are numbered. The numbers do not indicate an installation sequence - they are only provided to help you verify the package contents.
Whatever quantity of lengths you purchased, check the numbers inside the package to confirm it is complete.

Protective pieces: the small foam pieces and fillers inside the package are not part of the product. They are for protection in transit only, are not used during installation and can be discarded.

2. Corner pieces inspection

If your order includes internal or external corners, they may be inside the same package - or, if they did not fit the length, they may have been sent as a separate parcel. Please check the main package and any additional package.

Important: if any product is missing or damaged, contact us before starting installation.

3. Corner installation options

Option 1: corners can be cut by the user at a 45-degree angle using a mitre box.

Option 2 (recommended): pre-made corners purchased from us consist of two pieces already cut at 45 degrees. Install the corners first, followed by the intermediate sections - this gives a faster and cleaner result.

4. Required materials

Solvent-free coving adhesive
Utility knife or fine-toothed saw
Acrylic sealant or joint filler
Caulking gun
Tape measure and pencil

5. Installation

The wall and ceiling surface must be clean and dry.
Apply the adhesive to the contact surfaces of the coving.
Press the product firmly into place.
Wipe away excess adhesive with a damp cloth.

6. Finishing and painting

Fill the joints with sealant.
Once dry, lightly sand if necessary.
Paint with two coats of water-based paint. Never use solvent-based paints or adhesives on polystyrene.

7. Usage information

Lightweight - can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
Decorative trim: it does not bear loads, so never hang anything from it.
